Area, Activities, &
Links!
We
live in a very scenic area of Alaska. There is so much to do
and see in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, we encourage our
guests to stay for multiple nights to truly enjoy our part
of Alaska. My favorite activities include hiking on Matanuska
Glacier, flightseeing
around Mt. McKinley, savoring the mystique of the old Independence
Gold Mine in the alpine setting of Hatchers
Pass, and taking time to smell the flowers at Palmer
Visitors Center!
Our many lakes and streams offer
opportunities for all types of fishing. Hooking a salmon
on the Little Susitna River is always a thrill.
Don't overlook tranquil fly-fishing.
Great day trips include a drive to Talkeetna
for spectacular views of Mt. McKinley, a stop at
the Musk
Ox Farm followed by a drive up to Hatchers Pass and
Independence Mine, or a drive up to Matanuska Glacier to
experience the great views of the Talkeetna and Chugach
mountains and the river valley of the Matanuska River. For
outdoor adventure enthusiasts, try kayaking and mountain
biking at Eklutna
Lake or ice climbing at Matanuska
Glacier.
On Friday afternoons, a free tour of the Palmer
Tsunami Warning Station will tell you all you ever
wanted to know about earthquake and tsunami monitoring.
